Scorpio conscience

by Michael

I've been asked to write about the Scorpio conscience and what a bag of tricks that is; have you ever been baffled by a Scorp's response to such a degree, witnessed such black and white thinking that you'd swear there was no reason, no pattern to it all? Have you ever wondered how a Scorp can hurt you so badly and pursue you with such vindictiveness, how they can be so cruel and show so little regard to your feelings? Conscience is the key behind most of these things but in order to understand how a Scorp can appear to have so little of it requires deep penetration into something that, at the best of times, can be quite impenetrable.

Scorp conscience has a lot to do with stripping away the layers of ego and thought, even feeling, which constitute character. The person who said that Scorps have the ability to lay bare the human soul was quite wise; perhaps the same person might've also said that seeing the truth can be a very damaging experience if one isn't ready to see the it. It's a double-edged sword; Scorp undoubtedly possesses the tools for digging so deep into the human psyche but what they find there may scare them half to death if they're not prepared to face it.

Chances are Scorp knows this depth by default, but it's the wanting or needing to find a purer, higher purpose that drives them to dig deeper, facing their own fears as they go in order to conquer and feel a more complete sense of peace. Some may be happy dying, having dug themselves the shallowest of graves.

But the question is, what does a Scorp have to fear? Surely it takes a complete lack of fear, and disregard as well, to pull off the feats many cruel, vindictive ones do. In reality, it's actually the complete opposite of this; any Scorp who lashes out in this way is absolutely riddled with fear, the worst type of fear. This is the fear of ego and control, and it's just one of the ultimate forces a Scorp can give in to.

This notion of 'giving in' is very important to understand. Even the highest hierachy of Scorpio, the phoneix, may hate the feeling that ultimately they are at the mercy of existence itself, of a higher purpose, of the things they have no control over. It's the extent to which they're willing to relinquish that control and understand why they have to which determines how evolved they become. A Scorp who lashes out at others with hatred is operating from that very basic level of maintaining control, which is based on a fear of the unknown.

It's this reason why Scorp hatred can be so all-consuming. They may be treating you very badly and sometimes it's a giant leap of faith to see past your own ego, especially if they've bruised it; but realize that the one who is hurting you must be hurting himself if he can give rise to such powerful emotions, no matter how damaging and negative. They do it because the other option is much worse to them: to see their own faults, to feel vulnerable, to be at the mercy of the far greater and unquestionable power which makes them instinctively feel and know these
things.

If Scorpio conscience were a mirror, a lower type would see only himself: his image, who he thinks and feels he is, his identity, his ego. From such a judgemental level how can he possibly see anyone else in a differing light, yet alone with any foresight and sometimes, courtesy and respect? A more evolved Scorp realises that he looks just like everyone else and that everyone shares the same basic thread of humanity. If he stings someone else through judgement and a sense of controlling, he realises that he is also judging and controlling his own reaction when he has the power to just let go. Scorps ride high when they hold faith in that ability and shine with the intuition they gain from it =)
